Privacy Policy

Key point: RTL Pro reads and rewrites your page text so right-to-left languages read in the correct order. It never stores your content and never sends it anywhere. Everything happens inside Atlassian's own infrastructure.
1. Where the app runs
RTL Pro for Confluence is built on Atlassian Forge and runs entirely on infrastructure operated by Atlassian. Contextra Labs operates no servers, no database and no analytics endpoint for this app.
The app declares no external domains in its manifest, which is what makes it eligible for Atlassian's Runs on Atlassian programme. It makes no network request to any third party — not for analytics, error reporting, telemetry, or any other purpose.
There are exactly two outward-facing links in the app, both in the optional
"leave a review" prompt: one to the app's Atlassian Marketplace listing, and one
mailto: link to our support address. Neither is contacted unless you
click it, neither carries any of your data, and Atlassian displays its own
confirmation before your browser opens either one. If you use the mail link, the
contents of the email you choose to write are of course sent to us.
2. What the app reads
To do its job the app reads, through Atlassian's APIs and only within the sites where it is installed:
- Page bodies — to find right-to-left text that reads in the wrong order
- Page titles — same reason
- Comments on those pages — same reason
- Space and page identifiers — to know what it is working on
- Your licence status — supplied by Atlassian, used to enable the app and apply the evaluation limit
This content is held in memory only for the moment it takes to process a request and is then discarded. It is never written to the app's storage and never leaves Atlassian.
3. What the app writes
When you fix a page, the app writes back:
- An invisible Unicode character (U+202B RIGHT-TO-LEFT EMBEDDING) at the start of each block of right-to-left text. This is a standard Unicode character, not a proprietary marker.
- Confluence's own alignment mark on paragraphs and headings, where the document format permits it.
- For right-to-left lists, a rewrite of the list into right-aligned paragraphs beginning with a real "•" or "1.", so the marker appears on the right. Confluence Cloud cannot right-align a real list. This is reversible and can be switched off per space.
Every write is an ordinary Confluence page version, visible in page history and labelled "Right-to-left fix applied by RTL Pro". Nothing is hidden.
Manual fixes are performed as you, using your own permissions, so the app cannot change anything you could not change yourself. Automatic fixes on save are performed with the app's own authority, because a background trigger has no user session; they are labelled the same way and can be switched off.
4. What the app stores
The app stores a small amount of data in Atlassian's Forge storage, inside your Atlassian site. In full, that is:
- Space-level and site-level direction settings
- Whether automatic fixing and list-marker mirroring are enabled
- A count of pages fixed during the trial, to apply the evaluation limit
- Which one-off prompts you have dismissed
- The IDs of pages you explicitly un-fixed, so automatic fixing leaves them alone
That is the complete list. It contains no page content, no titles, no comments, no personal data and no user identifiers.
5. Personal data
The app does not collect, store or process personal data. It does not build user profiles, does not track usage, and has no analytics of any kind.
Your page content may of course contain personal data — it is your content. The app reads it transiently in order to reformat it, and never retains it.
6. Data location, retention and sub-processors
All processing and all storage happen within Atlassian's infrastructure, in the region Atlassian assigns to your site. Contextra Labs holds no copy of anything.
Since no content is retained, there is no content retention period. The settings listed in section 4 persist until you change them or uninstall the app.
Sub-processors: none. The app uses no third-party service.
7. How to remove everything
- Remove the app's changes from your content. Open a page, use the right-to-left check, and choose Remove RTL fix. This strips every character and alignment mark the app added and restores real lists. Alternatively, restore any earlier version from page history — every change the app made is an ordinary page version.
- Uninstall the app. Atlassian deletes the app's Forge storage, including every value in section 4.
Uninstalling alone does not remove characters already written into your pages, because those are now part of your content and only you should decide to change it. Undo first if you want the content reverted.
8. Your rights
Because Contextra Labs holds no personal data about your users, there is nothing for us to export or erase on request. Requests concerning content stored in Confluence should be directed to Atlassian, the data controller for your site.
Contextra Labs is established in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Where we do process personal data — in practice, only an email address if you write to support — we do so in accordance with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation. You may exercise any right you hold under those laws by writing to our support address.
9. Security
The app runs in Atlassian's Forge sandbox, inherits Atlassian's authentication and
permission model, and requests the minimum scopes it needs:

10. Changes to this policy
Material changes will be published on this page with an updated date, and noted in the app's release notes.
